Wow! This 1st quarter has gone by really fast and has been one heck of a ride! Getting used to middle school was pretty challenging the first few days, but after that it all just felt like we 6th graders belonged there. As a newbie in media, it was really confusing working with equipment you've never worked with before. Some of my classes were pretty challenging and confusing. They really pushed us to our limits.
Getting used to middle school was pretty challenging. We had to get accustomed to all new rules and people around us. I had been abiding by the same rules for a little over 6 years and changing almost all of those got me really confused. The first day of all the grades being together was really intimidating to me. I kind of got used to being one of the older kids in elementary school. Then I got surrounded by all these people 2-3 years older than me and it was very scary.
It was really confusing working with equipment I've never worked with before. For example, when I first got to use one of the 60D's I didn't know what most of the buttons on the camera did. I only knew the button to turn on the camera and how to record. With the help of the returnees though, I found out a lot more about what most of them did and how to change some of the settings on the camera to make the image look better.
Some of my classes were really challenging and confusing. For example, math is really confusing since there are so many ways you can solve a problem. For media, we had to call schools and people like the mayor's secretary. I was really scared when I had to call the mayor's secretary to schedule an interview. I'm just really awkward when talking to people I don't rally know too well.
Well that's it for this blog. I hope you enjoyed this blog. There have been some challenges for this personal profile project. I feel like our group is really behind on schedule. We still need to shoot a little more for the interview, get all of the b-roll, and edit. To do that we need to schedule appointments with our partner, Natalie, so that we can get the b-roll.
We are way behind on schedule. We still need to shoot the interview, get all of the b-roll, and edit. That is a lot of work to do in such a short amount of time. We only have 2 weeks till it's due. Once we get all the filming done, we would still need to edit all the footage and put it all together to make the deadline.
To accomplish this goal of making the deadline, we need to schedule appointments with our partner, Natalie, to get b-roll. We would need to go to the pool so we can film her swimming. We also need to film her grandmother making spaghetti and the finished spaghetti. We need pictures or videos of her from the time she went to Disneyland and rode the tower of terror.
Well that's where we are with our project, what we need to do, and plan to do. We really need to catch up, but we can still make the deadline for our video. That's it for this blog. Hope to see you in the next one. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another free blog. This week I'm going to be talking about the trailer for the movie, "The Great Wall." The trailer looks action-packed and really suspenseful. This really hooked me in and now it's one of the movies I want to watch really bad next year. I feel like the actual movie will have all the features as the trailer. Well, that's it for this free blog. See you in next week's blogs. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another week of blogs. For this week's required blog topic we have to talk about what the three things were that we enjoyed the most at the camp, if we felt closer to our classmates and the thing that impacted me the most. The three things I enjoyed were the activities, the food, and the hike through the forest. I definitely felt closer to my classmates and I feel the team activities impacted me the most.
I enjoyed the activities, the food, and the hike through the forest. One of the activities, the glow-stick drawing, was really fun because we could draw almost anything you want. You had to do that drawing in a short amount of time, but that didn't really matter to me. I really liked the food because all the food tasted delicious and were foods that I really liked, like tacos. The hike through the woods was my favorite thing we did this camp. It was really fun to hike through the mud and take in the true beauty of nature. This also made me actually have to get up and exercise, which I don't usually do.
I definitely feel closer to my classmates. During this entire camp, we weren't allowed to use our phones, so that meant we couldn't be by ourselves doing our own thing. This forced us to interact with other people. We played games that involved other people and talked with each other while eating to pass time. I actually learned a lot about other people that I didn't know before.
The team activities impacted me the most. The inside scoop script writing really made me work with my partner . We both had to contribute and agree on some of the things we were skeptical on. Then, we had to practice our scripts and read our script aloud to the rest of the class.
Well that's it for this week's required blog topic. The three things I enjoyed were the activities, the food, and the hike through the forest. I definitely felt closer to my classmates and I feel the team activities impacted me the most. I really enjoyed the camp. See you in the next blog. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another free blog. For this week's free blog I'll be talking about the movie 'Tomorrowland.' After I watched this movie I was thinking to myself and asking myself,"Is that what the future might look like?" There is a lot of action and sometimes I got really jumpy. There is tons of suspense and it really hooks you. I was eating a pretzel during the movie, but I never finished it. I just got so into it I couldn't look away. Well that's it for this week's free blog. I hope to see you next week. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another week of blogs. For this week's free blog post I'll be talking about any vehicle I would like to ride in. The vehicle I would like to ride in the most is a self-driving car. In this car I would like to go to Knott's Berry Farm amusement park so after cruising in the car I can have fun and go on some rollercoasters.
I would like to ride in a self-driving car because it would be so cool to see the car steering itself and not see anyone controlling the car. This way their wouldn't be a driver so I could kind of do whatever I want and not have to worry about distracting the driver. I would even be able to sing as loud as I want without putting anyone in danger.
The destination I would like to go to is Knott's Berry Farm amusement park. I've been there before, and let me tell you, there are so much cool rides there. I went on this one ride before and it tossed me around so much, I felt sick. It was all worth it, though.
I would like to go to Knott's Berry Farm amusement park because I could ride the rollercoasters after the car ride. Let's be honest, riding for hours in a crammed up space is pretty unpleasant. Why not make it worth the wait than just riding in it for not too much of a reason?
Well that's the blog. I would like to ride in a self-driving car and go to Knott's Berry Farm, so I can ride the rollercoasters after the ride. Hopefully I'll see you in the next blog. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back for another blog on my site! For this week's free blog, I'll be talking about "The Finest Hours."After watching the trailer for "The Finest Hours," I was like wow. How is this based on a true story? There is just so much suspense and action in the trailer it's kind of like you're watching the whole movie and not just the trailer. The actors make it seem like they're really in a huge storm and all the effects help out with that also. Well that's it for this blog and hopefully you'll come back for more blogs next week. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another free blog. This weekend I watched this movie in theaters called Kubo and the Two Strings. This movie is stop motion and I was really amazed at how animated the movie seemed. The whole story is about this boy who is being chased by his evil relatives. During this, he is on a quest to obtain the three items that are able to protect him from his relatives. But he is not alone on this quest. He is joined by this talking monkey and a giant beetle man. These are, who he later finds out, his parents in different forms. I recommend this movie to people who love action and quests. I do warn you though, it might make you a little emotional. Well, that's it for this blog so I'll see you in the next one. Bye!
You might remember Beauty and the Beast movies from before or from the fairy tales you listened to as a child. Well disney is making a movie and this time with actual people and not just animated characters. This seems more action-packed than ever and makes you definitely want to watch the movie whenever it releases.
Hi! For this week's required blog post we have to write about our toughest challenges so far this year. I've been really stressed these first couple of weeks, since we have so much projects in this year. The three things that have been very tough this year are my Franchise Project, the fundraisers, and posting two blogs each week.
The hardest thing I did this year was definitely my summer franchise piece. Being by myself, I couldn't split up the work like other groups did and try to make it a little easier on myself. Another big downside of not having a partner was that it was hard to tell if I was in the shot or not, so I had to plan where I was going to be and point the camera in that direction. I somehow got the project done though, and boy am I surprised that I finished it on time.
The second toughest thing this school year are the fundraisers. We have almost one fundraiser a week. The toughest thing about this is that most of the fundraisers start in the morning or they're really long. I usually wake up early in the morning, but I take a lot of time to get ready and sometimes that makes me late, so I have to try to get ready as quickly as I can. To me, we work so long that we want to just sleep right then and there. I probably have to take a nap before a fundraiser so I don't fall asleep.
The third most challenging challenge this year is that we have to post two blogs each week. I'm still getting used to middle school and all this homework from so many different teachers. On top of that we have tons of projects in media and then we have blogs. It's like," What do I do?" To solve that problem all I have to do is do my homework the day I get it and try not to let it pile up.
Well those were my three toughest challenges so far this year. They were my franchise piece, the fundraisers, and doing the required two blogs a week. So long for now and see you in the next blog. Bye!
Hello! Welcome back to my site for another one of my blogs. For this week's required blog post we have to explain where we are on our Summer franchise piece from the media camp, what still needs to get done, and what we plan on doing to complete these tasks.I am done with the script, but I still need to do filming, editing, and voice overs. To do these I plan on staying after school on every day that I can and try to finish everything on time.
Since my partner from the media camp left the program, that just leaves me by myself. It might sound difficult, but I believe it's possible to do this project by myself. Somebody else from the camp did their project by themselves so why can't I? I'm already done with my script ,but I still have lots more work to do to get even remotely close to finishing the project on time. Since watching that video from my later blog, "10 Tips for Beginner Filmmakers," I've really had a great self-esteem to push me. Using that, I finished my script making sure I liked it and taking PBS's advice and implementing it into the script.
I still need to finish filming, editing, and voice overs. For my scenes I'm thinking of adding sequencing and some extreme close-ups because PBS suggested that I add those in. For the filming I just need to make sure that the audio is okay and there is no background audio and be careful of objects in the background. At the camp we didn't really pay attention to those things and got told to be careful of those things.
To accomplish these tasks, I will have to stay after school for as long as I possibly can. I can't be fooling around when I'm supposed to be working or I would be wasting precious time. I plan on doing filming for the majority of the time and when I'm done with that voice overs, then editing. Hopefully, I will stay on track and finish each part on time.
Well those are the thing I am done with, I still need to accomplish, and what I plan on doing. It will probably be very stressful, like every project, but in the end it will all be worth it. That's it for this blog, and I hope to see you in the next blog as well. Bye!
Hello, and welcome back to my site! For this week's free blog post I'm going to be talking about a video on Youtube called "10 Tips for Beginner Filmmakers." As soon as I saw the title of this video I said to myself, "I definitely need to watch this," because the whole reason I got into media was to learn more about it. To do this though, I would need to both pay attention in class, and do some learning and researching of my own at home.
Now let's get into the video. These tips were really helpful to me, but the most helpful was tip #1. His first tip was to have the right mindset. Before this video, I always thought my videos would be poor and would barely improve. Then, as I saw his films in the video progress, I started having more self-confidence and started to build the right mentality. I would not only recommend this video to beginners, but to experienced filmmakers, too.
This is my first year in media, so naturally, I would have so much goals for this quarter you couldn't even be able to count them. To make the list reasonable, I'm going to shorten the list to 3. For this quarter my goals are to be more creative with my shots, get better at editing using Final Cut Pro, and try not to procrastinate.
My most desired goal to accomplish is to be more creative with my shots. At the media camp I felt like the shots I took weren't very creative and sometimes repetitive. For this reason, during the year, I'm going to try take shots I wouldn't usually take, but sometimes use basic shots which can sometimes look better than irregular shots.
My second goal is to get better at editing videos in Final Cut Pro. While editing the franchise piece at the media camp I noticed some of the scenes didn't fit well together and the voice over sometimes didn't line up with the action. To fix this I'll try to make sure everything looks and sounds great and re-shoot if needed.
My last goal is to not procrastinate and turn my work in on time. In elementary school I used to procrastinate and usually started my work the day before it was due. I still turned it in on time, but sometimes I got pretty low scores. In this class though I know I cant procrastinate because it takes a lot of time to do projects and then revise and then turn it in.
In conclusion my 3 goals this quarter are to be more creative with my shots, get better at editing using Final Cut Pro, and try not to procrastinate. These are kind of my guidelines of what I want to do this quarter. See you in the next blog. Bye!
Hi! This is my first blog ever and it's kind of nerve racking knowing lots of other people will be able to read your posts. To help myself not get anxiety I'm going to start off simple with a movie review. This review will be about the movie "Zootopia" created by Bryan Howard. First of all, if you like action, comedy, and a little suspense, then this movie is definitely for you. My favorite part is when they meet the Naturalist Club, which you can see in the trailer below.*SPOILER ALERT* The main plot of the story is very creative and throws you for loops many times. As the story continues though, it starts to make more sense, and then throws you for another loop. To sum it all up all I can say is "Loops, loops, loops."
