Hi! Welcome back to my site for another blog. Today was the last day of the STN trip and I'm kind of sad it's already over. Today we went to Disneyland once again, but today we went to the Disneyland side of it instead of the California Adventure side. I would say that the rides on the Disneyland side were better. There were a lot of rides that I liked, but on the California Adventure side, there was only one ride I liked, and that was the California Screamer.
The rides we went on today we're Hyperspace Mountain, Star Tours, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and the railroad ride. Those were the rides I remembered that were really good, and I liked them a lot. We also went on a Youth tour and learned how animation first started and the history of it. Then we had some hands on experience on how they did it. Well that's it for this blog. See you in the next one. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another STN blog. Today we had the closing ceremony for STN and Hawaii did really well. I think that in most of the competitions, Hawaii took an award home. In our class, all our teams won an award from 1st honorable mention to first place. The only team that didn't get an award was convention recap. The team I was in, Nat Package, won 1st place. I was so excited because this was my first STN, and we won 1st place.
After we celebrated all the awards, we went to Disneyland. We went to the California Adventure Park side. I don't think I went on that side before, but it was so fun. My favorite ride there was the California Screamer. It just went super fast and the drops are the best parts. Well that's it for this blog. See you in the next one. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another STN blog. Today was the second day of the competitions, and thankfully I didn't have to compete, but I had to go to breakout sessions. The first breakout session was about the making of the show “Baby Daddy.” Then in the middle of the break between breakout sessions I got asked if I could help out in our Castaic penpals’ movie trailer. I accepted and I had to kind of be like the final boss in a secret agent mission. Since I had to help Castaic I missed out on the 2nd breakout session.
They finished filming before one of the breakout sessions ended, so we went to that. After that we had a longer break, and ate lunch. I had a ham sandwich with mayonnaise, and 2 servings of noodles. When it was time for the next breakout session I went to the Know Your Rights session. We mostly watched videos about where you can film, when you can, and kind of what you can film. Most of the videos were just of showing cops not knowing these rights and making up excuses when put on the spot. The speaker occasionally paused the video to give some information about what's happening. Well, that's it for this blog, I hope I see you in the next one tomorrow. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another blog. Today was the start of the actual STN competitions, and I'm not saying Crazy 8’s isn't a competition. I was in Nat Package, so we started the latest than everyone else, so before we got our packets, we went to 1 and 3 fourths of a breakout session. We went to the Nat Package session and the how the eyes work session. One thing I learned in the sessions is that one jump cut is a mistake, two in a row is questionable, and three in a row is technique. I learned this from the Speaker in the Nat Package session.
When we got our packet we found out our topic was natural talent. We sat down and I worked on the questions and Carter looked on Google maps for some places we could get a story. We found a park and started heading there, but when we got there, there was no park. There was a hotel in place of it. When we found out that the Google map was outdated, we went down the other side of the sidewalk. I remembered that I interviewed a person who spoke 2 languages so we headed there, but she was busy with work.
We were down to our last resort, so we headed down to the hotel to see if we could interview a student or something. We got a chaperone from the group sitting beside our group and the interview was great. We shot some B-roll and got to the editing room. Thankfully we edited everything on time, we checked the video, and turned it in on time. I feel like we did good and have a good chance.
Well today was really exciting and very nerve-racking at the same time. I thought we weren't going to get a story on time because it was 12:45 and we didn't have a story when we had about 1 hour left for filming. That's it for this blog. I'll see you in the next one. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another blog! Today was the first day of STN and it was very stressful. Crazy 8s were today and it was so crazy. We couldn't really get a story until about 2 hours into the competition. On the way to the location we did some of the questions, and got there. The interview we did was really short, so we made some adjustments to the questions and redid the interview. It was longer so we took some B-roll and headed back. We edited the story and when everybody else was ready with their assignments, we put it into the timeline. One thing that took some time were the stand-ups. They were done over and over because they weren't too good. When we were ready to export, we accidentally had a clip highlighted and exported that instead of the whole video.
At the opening ceremony, STN officially started and there were some awards given out like student and teacher of the year, and some plaques to schools whose first time it was. It was really cool. Well that's it for this blog. I'll see you in the next one. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another blog. Today was actually really fun. First we went to the Angels Stadium for a tour. One thing that surprised me was that for $250,000 you only got seats closer to home plate than the pitcher and your seats are at cleat level so you can't tell how the ball is moving. In my eyes, I would almost never buy that because that's a lot of money for not too good of seats in my opinion.
Another thing we got to do was have a private tour of the Disney Pixar Animations Studio. We couldn't take pictures or videos beyond the lobby, so I'm not going to talk too much about it. The lobby was really cool with the paintings of Big Hero 6 and Moana. After we got to the hotel and freshened up, we met with our Castaic penpals in the lobby. I was both excited and nervous at the same time, but once we hung out more the ice between us melted as well. Dinner at Bubba Gump's was a lot that I felt like throwing up. Luckily though, I didn't throw up and got to the hotel safely. Well that's it for this blog. I'll see you in the next STN blog tomorrow. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another blog. Today was the 4th day of the STN trip and we didn't really do much today. First, after we checked out of our hotel, we went to Bob's Big Boy for breakfast. I ordered a Belgian waffle, and it was actually pretty good. It was very warm and really fluffy. I didn't expect that and caught me by surprise. After that, we took the bus to our new hotel in Anaheim. On the way there, we made a stop at Walmart to buy some food.
When we arrived at the hotel we went to our rooms and brought the food to Uncle Don's room. After that we went to downtown Disney to get some dinner. I got Chicken nuggets and fries with BBQ sauce. Before our table was ready though, we went to the arcade above the restaurant and played some games like air hockey. I beat Shayne and it felt so good to get my revenge from the last time he beat me. After meeting up with everybody else we went to the hotel and got ready to sleep. Well that's it for this blog, I'll see you in the next one. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for another STN blog. Today we went to Universal Studios is Los Angeles! We got up really early to get to the park when it opened at 8:00 am. We did this so we could ride on some of the roller coasters and motion simulators before the big crowd showed up. The first ride we rode on was in Harry Potter land. It wasn't too good because the drop was pretty small, but it still gave a little adrenaline when we rode it.
My favorite ride is between the Mummy ride and the Jurassic Park ride. I liked the Mummy ride because we went really fast in the beginning, and then rode backwards. There were lots of scares which was a plus too. I liked the Jurassic Park ride because of the drop at the end. It was really high and we went pretty fast down the drop. The only thing I didn't like about it was that we got wet! I was the only student that actually got pretty soaked, while everybody else was fine. After all that my feet hurt a lot. I could barely walk. At dinner I went to Smash Burger, and it was pretty good. I got a bacon cheeseburger and I liked it. After that we went shopping. I didn't get anything, but other people got some stuff. Well that's it for this STN blog. I'll see you in the next one tomorrow. Bye!
Hi! Welcome back to my site for a STN trip blog! We landed in L.A last night at around 10:00 pm and after we got our luggage we got on the bus and headed over to In-N-Out for dinner. I liked the burgers, but I didn't like the amount of fries they put. When I thought I ate a lot of the fries I barely made a dent. After that we went to the hotel and went to bed.
Today we did a lot! First we had to wake up at around 6:00 am. I'm not too used to waking up that early, but I did. After that we went downstairs to get breakfast. I got a cheese pastry and it was pretty good. When we got on the bus we went to the Warner Brothers studio. It was really fun seeing all the settings they could make with one location. When we went to the Laker game I was so hyped up. I was cheering for the Lakers, and they came back from a 13 point deficit in the 2nd quarter to win the game 130-119 in overtime. Well that's how today and yesterday went. I'll see you in the next blog tomorrow. Bye!
